Magic missile is not following rules as written 5e SRD
Just remember that while JC's twitter is very helpful, it is still not official. It's give great insight into what was intended, but... The rules as written are still king. It needs to make it to one of the book Erratas or the SA-Compendium PDFs on the WotC website to be an official change to the written rules. Or have the rule re-published in a new book. With magic missile the wording is not clear...
