Cut-scene ambushes
Thats the thing with ambushes, you get caught off guard,lol. Just lower the difficulty settings when it becomes a thing, because its really not that big of a deal, all "squishy" classes have plenty of options in situations like this if you make little sacrifices instead of going the "100% glass cannon max dpser of doom" route. Had a Wizard and a Rogue on my playtrough and never noticed this problem.

Fighters/Rangers/Rogues - why use them...
Rogues are amazing, they have easy access to advantage by hiding with bonus action mid-combat, plus sneak attack is fairly easy to obtain(attack enemy in melee with ally, attack from shadows etc etc) and does awesome damage. Essentialy, with advantage, you get almost 10% chance of deleting a foe with a critical hit from a sneak attack, and thats always hilarious. Summing it up, you hit more often(because of advantage) and you hit hard(because of...

+1 I made a thread of my own about this, not only this is incorrect ruleswise but it also causes those fights to be extremely easy when they should be very hard. All it takes is a light cantrip to completely ruin those monsters right now. Point 1 alone is the best path IMO, its the one that makes most sense and stays within core game rules.
