Travel problems

My party is always exhausted. They never fully recover, even sleeping in the inn for days does not lower it. Seems that I can't force camping to lower it either. 

Also, my party is AWLAYS supprised by attacks on their camps. What gives? Am I missing something?

Hey Michael,

A similar problem has been reported on lasting fatigue, but I have no repro yet. I assume it will be an easy fix once we have it.

As far as surprised is concerned, I would say you are unlucky, or maybe something has broken in your progress. Did you have multiple runs of the game?

I found the solution.

Evidently, surprise is tied to fatigue level. Above the level of "Impeded", you have a progressively large disadvantage to surprise.

I got stuck with a level that started out on any travel where I was "Impeded" at the start and by the time my party would camp they would be "Exhausted". This lead to my party ALWAYS being surprised by my camp being attacked, and it was about 75/25 of me being surprised by random encounters.

How this happened (best that I can figure out): I left town in the morning and traveled to a mission area. I arrived in the area late in the afternoon with an elevated fatigue level. I cleared the area and left to go back to town once again in the morning. Well, this travel started with my elevated fatigue level, and because the game only starts camp in the evening, and does not adjust rest time (like it says it will in the hint boxes), my party traveled and got "Exhausted" level by the time the days were ending.

Sleeping in the inn does NOT reduce fatigue, long rest at campsites on a mission area do NOT reduce fatigue. The only way to reduce fatigue right now is by camping on the travel map.


Work around: 

1: Travel to a map area where 2 points are close (Caer Cyflen -> Caer Lem, or Caer Lem -> Tower of Magic)

2: "Short Rest" until 7pm then travel to a close destination. This will cause you to camp immediately after you leave. Because you probably got there in the middle of the day you can take 5-6 hours of travel fatigue off your fatigue level. 

3: Do this until you are breaking camp with no fatigue.

4: ALWAYS leave an area from 5 pm to 9 pm, never earlier, never later.

5: Wait for DEVs to realize this is a problem and let you force rest and let staying at the inn or campsites reduce fatigue level.

Also the, "Auto-cast Create Food" option doesn't work. Keep getting to 0 rations and having a half day of travel. The bar never goes full for me. Though they never really fully explained how travelling works.

This is still an ongoing problem and it makes the game almost unplayable. No matter how many times I rest my party at the Inn they are still either "impeded" or "fatigued".

Resting at the Inn NEEDS to remove those conditions (why wouldn't it?).

Also, the player needs to be able to "Long Rest" whenever they want while travelling as long as they have camping supplies/rations.

Right now, the game is incredibly frustrating.

Those two changes would go a long way to improve the experience.
