Sylvan Elf Rogue Sneak attack damage consistently not applied

My rogue's sneak attack damage is not calculating or showing up in the damage numbers.  I've tried various weapons and situations to try and trigger sneak attack, but regardless of advantage status or active ally nearby, with ranged weapons (shortbow and longbow) or melee weapons (rapier), sneak attack is not applying
