Well I don't have a cleric.

I had my Mage shoot out the windows and we all shot flaming arrows at her.

Those things will make you cuss a miss!

I have 2 Paladins and they just whaled on her when she got down.

My mage used Ltn Bolt on her which didn't do much, but it whittled on her.

We basically ignored her goons til she went down.

OK

Tried it with another group.

We had heavy crossbows firing flame arrows.

Shot her windows out right off and 3 of us stood all in the light.

Mage was firing flaming arrows as well.

Never used the first sword on her.

Just shot her to death.

OK

Everybody remember Razan?

Just went to take him out with this group of fire arrows boys.

We took him down in about five minutes time,

These guys at this point are 8th lvl.

I stumbled on a tactic that worked wonders for this fight which also landed double xp (at least I think so, will have to try it another time to confirm).

Start by choosing the diplomatic route, ie convince her not to fight. This will land you full xp and the vampires will be neutral and positioned downstairs.

Remove the boards from the windows. Strangely enough this is not enough to make the light sensitive vampires turn aggressive. Buff your party and position them as you see fit. Have one of your members loot something to initiate battle.

Now for the cheesy part. Have your party in stealth before looting and hit pause as soon as the vampires turn hostile. If you are fast they will be surprised and you get a full round to nuke away at the leader.

It really helps that Aksha positions herself just beneath the windows, which lands her in direct sunlight for the entire fight, if you take her down quickly.

Yes!!!!

That is a big help. Walk ove rcasually and FireBolt the windows, then three of you get to stand in the light. Someboddy has to go downstairs and trigger combat, but the Paladin can handle that alright.

Just did another round with her.

This time was 2 Pals, 1 Fighter, 1 human Wiz.

ALL of them carried heavy crossbows with flaming bolts.

And we toasted her ass, never used spells on her.

This time she didn't give us a chance to open the windows, but it didn't matter.

Of course I was lucky this time, as the dice didn't do me those terrible rolls like you get sometimes,

Thanks for those tips.

Keep smiling, it won't cost you.

The tip that helped me the most was knowing that some of her effects are done mostly if you bunch up on her.

When I beat her, she still did two unending zones of darkness, but my group was able to move and spread near the windows.

I did not use the diplomatic trick, but a fireball on her minions blew the windows open! (not planned, but awesome)

Hasting my main melee character also helped a lot.

Nerd note : in 5e, vampires are powerful, but any Radiant damage stops their regeneration at least one round.  I suffered a total party kill against a vampire (technically my Gnome ran away alive, the only survivor, but still the end of the game).

Thanks, I got there in the end with 2F, 1 S and 1R.

Not exactly optimal, but break the windows open, dance back and away whilst using every bit of ranged magic and S put up a big fat Daylight spell. Keep dancing into my lit killzones, use up anything radiant, pray that we resist Slow and that Dark Veil can't really compete with real daylight.

Took 4 goes but managed it in end, phew..
