Moathouse on the Borderlands: STEAM LINK

This is a Village of Hommlet: Moathouse style dungeon, and the dungeon level is as close as possible to the original old classic module.

NOTE: You must subscribe to all 3 modules named Moathouse on the Border (ie, M0, M1, M2), or you will get dumped to the main screen when you hit an area transition. Starting point is H1 in your dungeon listings.)

This module is for 1st or 2nd level characters and is about 4-5 hours long and will get them to around 3rd or 4th level.

Background:

Traveling as guards on a merchant caravan, you sought passage to Grimhaven, a small town on the edge of a large forest, where tales of strange goings-on and rumors of an old evil again rising have piqued your interest. Merchants traveling to the area have sought mercenaries for hire to defend against increasing bandit attacks. It was the perfect opportunity for your band to cut its teeth and test your skills before arriving in Grimhaven.

You didn't have long to wait, as the caravan was attacked shortly after leaving on the journey. Though you managed to fend off the bandits, several of the wagons sustained heavy damage. After another five leagues, the caravan had little choice but to stop to repair the wagons.

The merchants have asked you to scout the nearby forest for danger while they make repairs. They inform you that straight ahead is a long-empty cabin that should be scouted for supplies, and to be wary of the lake to the east, as an ogre has been known to frequent nearby. Also of interest is an old abandoned moathouse previously garrisoned by the former lord of the area.

You prep your gear in preparation for an expedition to... the Moathouse on the Border.

Special thanks to Vincto and SimulationCommander for playtesting this module.

NOTE: This module makes use of the Merchants Mod by Zappastuff, if you have this mod, you will be able to use merchants, but if you don't you can still play through it anyway.

Highly recommend! This is an awesome adventure!

Edit: If you're already this deep into Solasta, download the mod that allows you to interact with the merchants! Just this simple addition has made a world of difference when it comes to adventuring!!

I definitely appreciate your help SimulationCommander. It was invaluable.

I am glad you liked it.

Happy to help anytime you need it! Wordsmithing D&D modules is way better than wordsmithing cat food descriptions.

Lol Almost forgot with the recent discussions that this is my latest module. People are still just in love with that Slavers campaign, and I cannot blame them, it was really spectacular.

Ok, started Moathouse now as a way to level up to 3-4 in order to run the Crevasse. The camp you start from doesn’t have all the goodies I’ve come to expect from your other modules though, is that expected? I have an un-modded game, but I thought instead of vendors there’d be chests with gear in that case.

Without the mod there's nothing in the chests. Just dooooooooooo it.

Although there should also be a ton of regular gear in the wagon. Do you not see that either?

There was some gear under the wagon, but not the usual assortment of medium armors I’ve come to rely on (Sellsword background should come with free scale mail, in my munchkin opinion - won’t someone please think of the armored Wizards?!?! 😂). I quickly decided it wasn’t worth worrying about and set out to explore the forest, and then into the moathouse. No Manocalan Rosary was the big missing thing, but maybe not given that I haven’t found any recipes in the dungeon. Digging it so far, though! it’s so elaborate compared to most modules. And as usual for an SQ module, there were 2 fights I did not see coming. Lol. It nicely reinforces my predisposition to always have a Cleric and Wizard in the party!

Another excellent module! Hit level 4, everyone has a magic item or two (alas, no magical 2h weapon), and ready for the crevasse.

Hmm good point, Normally I add some scalemail in there, which I should do.

Thanks Skyria, glad you enjoyed it. Believe it or not a certain event happened recently that is likely to allow me to plan out the rest of this campaign for the next patch.

The wrath of the righteous guys have Silverquick to thank for me not quite getting around to grabbing that yet. The plot hook in moathouse was pretty cool, can’t wait to see where you go for the series!

Is it a secret?
