I haven't played too far, but when you enter the dark castle, it seems most all the enemies are resistant to non-magical weapons. I understand there are ways around this, for ex a Spellblade fighter, or using a Wizard obviously. However, I am trying a super stealth all rogue + ranger party at the moment, and it seems impossible to get a +1 weapon before you hit the castle. You can find numerous primed weapons (dagger, shortbow, axe) early, but w/o the recipe its useless. Also, I cant buy the recipe nor a +1 weapon of any kind because I dont have "alliance" with the various factions.
Is there a way to buy or craft +1 weapon before you go to the dark castle?

You might be able to find something using the quest board to get additional side quests. Some of the mobs might drop something that's +1 or a recipe, but I'm not sure.
Once you clear the ruins where you find the crown, you can go back there to find a merchant with a lot of crafting recipes. They could help. Just be careful with your ingredients, some of them are rare and not in great supply. On the other hand, some items of acuteness can be useful if you're entirely lacking in magic weapons.
thanks Kobra Ill try that, hopefully the recipes will be available for sale, it seems at that early stage (level 3 or so) nobody wants to sell you anything except Gorim.
Skeletons are resistant to everything but blunt damage because there is nothing to cut or stab :) Try hammers, maces, quarterstaffs etc.

Jeez dude, maybe you dont play Ironman Cataclysm at %210 enemy health multiplier (its normally 200, I up it just a bit). And maybe you dont play with no Revive of any kind. I do, I want the toughest challenge. When I die I go back to zero. So I want every advantage possible, because the battles are edge of your seat (some fights Im standing up yelling at the monitor), life and death seesaw battles. I enjoy that personally.
Impatient? No. I suggest you try the difficulty above with no revive and see how you fare, then you will understand.

Well then, there you are. You now have the toughest challenge - playing Ironman Cataclysm with the enemy health multiplier nudged further up the scale, and without any magic weapons. Wouldn't want to make it too easy for you, by handing out +1 weapons to you at level 3, would you?
Why don't you stop bragging about how Awesome you are playing the game at such levels as the issue here is NOT how quickly the developers make such gear available.
