For those that missed the announcement today (not sure why there wasn't a post in News & Annoucements, maybe I just missed it?).

But new DLC was announced, releasing in May!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2100431/Solasta_Crown_of_the_Magister__Palace_of_Ice/

Key Features:

  1. Gnome and Tiefling ancestries
  2. Raises level cap to level 16!!
  3. A direct sequel to Crown of the Magister (can even import your characters from CotM saved games)
  4. New environments - Mountain caves, Dwarven City, Dwarven Settlement, Snowy Hills

Woohoo!  Exciting stuff :-)

This dlc has many new and good things!

I love oficial campaing, because have good dialogs and that cause a good immersion in the RPG.

Raises level cap to level 16 is to fun! I hope for multiclass in future.

Dungeon Maker improvements  is very good, because community creations are amazing!

I'm glad we're getting more official campaign stuff and I'm very interesting in seeing what the Snow Alliance is all about. From the trailer, it looked like it could be a vaguely Skyrim-esque place, which I like. And now we're getting Tieflings, one of my favorite character options =)

Any news about possible news archetypes ?

I haven't seen any, but I hope they add some along with more spells and feats for the levels we have. It's a nice way to expand build options. Fighter and Rogue need something big to help them. Especially since we're going into high level play. While Paladins and Rangers are getting 4th lvl spells, Fighters are still stuck making 3 attacks per turn. And Rogues finally start to kinda catch up to the other martials at lvl 15... which is very late.

It is really great news. I hope with the update, there will be some progress for the hairs of the characters.

I'm glad that they increased the level to 16, although it was sad about the level cap in other campaigns for the sake of balance. Doesn't it take a lot more experience for such lvls? Those who just run around the map with friends for the sake of random meetings will still enjoy the game, and who needs to go through the main quests. For me, lvl 11 for the crown, and 10 valleys are already higher than the roof, lvl 12 already breaks the balance. I would love to just run and fight in random encounters with friends in these campaigns. Not because I want to be the strongest, but for the sake of an adventure from lvl 1 to 16 to feel how my character develops. And the exit to the main menu is again pumping and generally choosing another location is not at all the same.

The game will support up to level 16, so community modules will be able to take advantage of this.  They are only saying that in the first two official campaigns, the prior level caps will stay.  And as you say, you can't really get that much higher in level in the official campaigns anyway - you finish up the campaign around 10-11th level anyway.

What I didn't see was mention of any additional subclasses.  I'm still hoping for a martial Bard (College of Dueling?) and possibly a martial Wizard (Bladesinger-like).  And it still seems like Fighter needs some spicier subclasses - in 4 campaigns, no one in my group has been tempted to play a Fighter because all the subclasses seem lackluster.

That the developers hear you, I so agree with you on the lacks of these three classes (for me the lack of the duel colleges is the biggest lack, but each to his own tastes).

With the lvl cap increasing, there will be even less reason to play Fighter and any new subclass would have to work overtime to make up for the difference. Paladins and Rangers are about to get access to 4th lvl spells, and Battle Clerics are going to start that campaign with all their combat features, making it hard even for Paladins and Rangers to justify a party slot.

As much as I like the idea of martial subclasses for classes like Bards, I don't think adding them is a good idea. Martials characters are already fighting tooth and nail to have some relevance and they're barely succeeding.

I've seen people point out Swift Blade, Paladin and Stone Barbarian being overpowered, but the truth is that these are the only options we have for martials that are even remotely as strong as they need to be to compete with casters at our current levels. It's going to be even harder to compete with 7th and 8th lvl spells.

Feats that let us pick up spells woukd be fun. Other than that, more feats to make warrior characters stronger. Inner Strength was a nice step in that direction, but not enough to compensate for not being spellcasters.

As for subclasses, i think Fighters and Rogues need something with properly scaling resources to spend on special abilities. Something strong enough to compensate for not having spellcasting.

So a good boost of the rogue and warrior classes. I must admit that I am intrigued by what will give the current subclassess of these classes at level 16 (since we suspect as you specified that the classes of spellcasters will be on their side more and more overpowered) .

We know what a few archetypes are getting at higher level, since they're from the tabletop game.

Champion Fighter: Crit on 18-20

Berserker Barbarian: Reaction attack against an enemy that damages you in melee

Thief Rogue: You can use all magic items regardless of class restrictions

Hunter Ranger: Choose one of Uncanny Dodge, Evasion or Stand Against the Tide

Devotion Paladin: Permanently under Protection from Evil and Good effect

Lore Bard: You can add your Bardic Inspiration to skill checks.

Land Druid: Beast and Plant enemies have to succeed a Wis saving throw if they want to attack you

Draconic Sorcerer: You can sprout wings as a bonus action.

Fiend Warlock: You can send a creature through the Hells when you land a weapon attack once per long rest. They are banished until the end of your next turn and take 10d10 psychic dmg when they reappear.

The remaining classes we have either don't get a subclass feature lvl 13-18 or don't use tabletop subclasses (like Wizard).

As you can see, hardly features worth more than spellcasting for most of them.

Thank you for the answer. So indeed, there is plenty of room for other subclasses/feats.
