I created a halfling rogue, and early in the game she was using a short bow, but never received sneak attack damage. The display would show that it was a sneak attack but only the damage die from the bow was ever rolled. Switching to a light crossbow seems to have fixed the issue which is fine since it's better than a short bow. Maybe this is because the short bow has the same damage die as sneak attack?

Did your normal damage kill the creature before the damage from Sneak Attack was rolled? The game seems to stop rolling damage once the target is dead; which is a bummer because there is no such thing as overkill!
