Lose all spells on wizard level up

Class: Wizard (Shock Arcanist)

Upon reaching lvl 4 and doing the level up process, all level 1 and 2 spells can be chosen for new spells known, even the once I already know.

No matter what 2 new spells I select, when going to prepare my spells, there are now no non-cantrip spells in my spellbook.

Even upon doing a new long rest, this does not change and my Wizard can now only cast cantrip spells.

Loading and doing the level up process again replicated this bug in 5/5 tries.

Have you check if your wizard still has his spellbook? Has he given it to someone else?

Nice catch, thanks!

So, he tried to learn new skills and wrote them into an empty spellbook. And I wasn't even aware wizards had a spellbook as an inventory item.

Guess it's working more than just intended for scrubs like me :)

I'm not sure another game has that, but I think it's described in the D&D Player's Handbook and they implemented it literally, which is awesome! Except if, like me, you find your character getting heavy and you dump all your useless books to another one - Oops ;-)

I haven't tried to play with multiple spellbooks, it's theoretically possible. If only we could loot them, sometimes. But I think they may be written "encrypted", or at least in a way that only its owner can read it, maybe that's why we can't.
