Any time I see a debuff I see that it says detrimental effect. I cast lesser restoration that "Remove a detrimental condition from an ally" and yet I still have the debuff.

If Lesser Restoration does not specify which conditions it heals, yeah that would be an oversight that they could fix.
For now, I recommend you check the official version online to know :

Which are : blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned [The 5e rules could have made this spell cooler, like you remove any condition caused by any effect of level x or lower.]
