I'm not going to judge who is trolling and/or projecting, I had my share of laughs reading this thread, but you'd better leave the dwarves out of it.

Here's the dwarves in 5E:
"Dwarven skin ranges from deep brown to a paler hue tinged with red, but the most common shades are light brown or deep tan, like certain tones of earth." PHB 5E, p.18

And here's the duergars in 5E:
"Most duergar have ashen gray skin." MM 5E, p.122.

If you choose to see any allusions to anything in the real word in their descriptions, I'm sorry for you.

I believe that anyone who buys this game should be able to create a character that looks like them. That's the point of playing RPGs.

That's not the point. Especially for computer games. The closest thing to a constant in computer rpgs is mechanics. Self-actualization exercises probably work best in free form role play, or even just developing a fursona (anyone else remember [adjective][species]?) Also some would rather play as something radically different than themselves, even with a homocentric ruleset.

Solasta is not the Sword Coast

This. They are making their own setting and can play with conventions as they deem fit.

I'm sorry, what's that about white people?

More seriously though, because I see you're talking about the weapon / armor contest. We're not asking them to decide on the entire armory - we're giving our players the opportunity to have their creation being included in Solasta. Honestly, we think that's a cool thing to do: we're making someone out there real happy, and recognize the creativity of our fans.

I like the different contests. I haven't won one but that's ok. The fun of using my creativity to design a weapon or armor was worth it. The races thing. Honestly, Whoever designed or desides the lore of Solasta really need not answer to anyone regarding "race". Here's a question, What if the powers that be decided to make most of the "races" of a darker tint? would you still play the game? I suspect any hard core gamer would LOL! It matters not to me. When I play an RPG, it's not about the character "looking like me". It's about how I would personally decide things. I think of my "race as the race of "human, Elf,Orc" etc.Everything in the real world seems to be about race these days and I've had quite enough of it and quite frankly, I refuse to let the media and whatever other powers that be manipulate me into hating someone because of their skin color. ( I have friends of every color of the rainbow ) Can we just discuss the game ( based on the creator's lore) please? Oh and the character's faces?  I LOVE THEM! . LOL We can't have EVERYONE agreeing on something can we? lol Peace fellow gamers. BTW, I played the demo and I'm so excited for the eventual full release. Can we please have a hint of when that might be? lol

I don't know if you no anyone of color. But those pictures don't look like them! Some of the people who have invested in the game want to be able to make characters that Really look like them. The point about the weapon and armor, is that more options is better. Flexibility is better. Limiting any class of weapon by popular vote is wrong!

Is this game based on the Earth version of "races" ? or on Solasta which as far as I know isn't REAL. If I'm wrong I'm a little concerned that there are some very mean and ugly monsters running around in my neighborhood that I had no idea existed. This is a FANTASY world. Do you honestly think it must match our world? If so then shouldn't we include people hating each other because of the abundance or lack of melanin? "I don't know if you no anyone of color. ( I am a " half-breed" )  But those pictures don't look like them! ( I have plenty of black, brown, white, etc colored friends and I can honestly say NONE of them look ANYTHING like  those in the demo ) Some of the people who have invested in the game want to be able to make characters that Really look like them.  And there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is where I or you or anyone other than the designer/developer of the lore, game etc. Kinda sort of says " ummm I paid money to support your game so now you need to make it the way I believe it should be made. They are not bound by ANY request we have and I think it rather presumptuous of me to assume that I should expect them to change their personal vision of the game in any regard simply because I wish it. The point about the weapon and armor, is that more options is better. Flexibility is better. Limiting any class of weapon by popular vote is wrong!  I don't believe I read any post that said whatever weapon was chosen was the only one in that class ever. I think I saw at least one post regarding time constraints. If there was such a post my apologies but I believe they said a number of times that some of the choices we made as a group were to be used at release which I assumed there would be additions later of any number of things. I asked this question :What if the powers that be decided to make most of the "races" of a darker tint? would you still play the game?  I didn't ask that because I'm a person of color nor because I'm white. Actually, I'm both. I am a rather unusual shade for a " white guy " because I "look" mostly white but sometimes, in the right light, lol people can tell I'm mixed but they are always stunned that I am half Cherokee! Why?because people make racist decisions all the time! they see me as a 'white" guy because I "look" white and that, in and of itself is a racist decision. Why? because it is based solely on the color of my skin! and it's an honest and understandable mistake.I am going to try to never post again about race because I have had a lifetime of assumptions and being bullied based upon the color of my skin and I'm done. For all those whom I have offended please forgive me. again I say peace fellow gamers.

This is for Tactical Myzzrym. Let me make it as simple as I can. If you want to control the character appearance, then use stock photos. However if you create a modelling program, allow the players to create whatever they want. The weapons and armor are tied to the story and lore of the world. It should not be up to the players to decide it. I hope I am clear on my position.

In this world, not everyone will be happy with a product. Not everyone will be catered to. All I care about is:

Is it fun?

Is there a good and engaging story?

Will your choices matter?

Any space hamsters? :)

I really do not like the different texture of the faces but that is just me and will still get the game.

i for one absolutely don't care if i can't make a char looking like me in game. especially in a fantasy game, and even more as you roleplay a party, not a single char like in most RPGs.
