Killed Deep Spiders but cannot finish the demo

So, I've got through the Deep Spiders intact and found the green area at the top of the stairs, but when the group stands on it, it disappears and I cannot finish the demo. The 'exit' still has the orange barrier up and everything is 'no path to destination' on the other side.......am I missing something....great demo by the way...

While in the green area, you have to click on the wall and a gear appears to complete the Demo

Thanks - after a couple of saves and reloads, the gears appeared and I could finish. Before that it was just the flashing orange door with no way of interacting with it.
