Items disappearing 1.0.18

Items seem to be randomly disappearing from characters' bags. I've noticed it happen to my 3rd (half-elf wizard) and 4th (dwarf cleric) characters. Specifically, the dwarf has 'lost' at least 2 different Potions of Giant Strength (at least one of which I never had the opportunity to sell before it was removed, and I know I never used them). More noticeably, the half-elf seems to have misplaced her spellbook, making it nearly impossible to play them. I think I may have lost a couple 'primed' items as well, although I didn't notice the issue to start paying attention until I realized my spellbook was missing.

Just happened to me tonight. Wizards spellbook gone. Thief had 2 different poisons, gone. Happened around the time I leveled up and selected new spells for my wizard.  Gah.

Didn't happen to me, but there is a known bug where, at a vendor, if you put something down for sale, then sort your items, then cancel the sale, the item goes back to the slot it originally appeared in, which might now have another item. The current item in that slot is overwritten.

Other theory : in past versions, items placed on the last row of the inventory, and on the right hand side, could disappear due to a bug with the way the inventory size adapts (removes rows) automatically.  The trick was to place some cheap item, like a single arrow, on the left side of the inventory near the bottom to force the inventory size to stop reducing its size (i.e. keeping many extra rows visible due to the cheap items kept in place there).

This could have caused some of the losses (in particular, I think the sellbook went missing in town to the point that I went to see if it was available to be bought back) but I think others happened away from vendors. Guess I'll avoid sorting with the shop interface up because I was definitely doing that. Although I don't think I'd have done it with items up for sale.

Yeah I also had my spellbook disappear.  With this happening with spelbooks a lot, I wonder if there is something else going on.

Losing the spellbook is very frustrating. Unfortunately I have that too now, I'm sure I haven't sold it.

the deletinmg items while selling items reordering your inventory and then putting items to sell back in inventory should be fixed in 1.0.22 beta branch

  • Fixed some items being deleted by reordering the inventory while trying to sell things at a shop

Confirmed. Today, my rogue had a Frostburn Dagger equipped. Another Frostburn Dagger appeared in a loot dialogue, as a drop. I thought dual wielding them would be cool. When the rogue loots the dagger, presto: gone. So, I reloaded the post-combat autosave, looted the dagger with my Pally. No problem, it was in his equipment. When I handed it to the rogue, presto, dissappeared again.

I have direct, repeatable experience with this bug. It is not fixed.
