Is light even a thing any longer?

I have a dwarf, 2 half elves and an elf in my party and if creatures are in the dark there is no issue it seems.  I know they all four have darkvision so do I never have to worry about lighting things up?  I like a challenge...maybe should of rolled a human?

Light seems to still help. I always cast cantrip light. Seems like a lot of enemies in this game get disadvantage next to a lightsource.

Yes, I think you're right because I do see on the enemies portrait that light is an issue for them.  I thought there were some monsters that had super darkvision that could be lurking and hard to hit but not sure.

Lighting is usually not a big deal in 5e, as long as you've got at least dim light. However, there are certain monsters you'll encounter in Solasta that will have a significant set of buffs when they are in darkness, so having lightsources is always worth considering.

Typos happen. More so on the phone.

Darkvision does help a lot, yes, but it's not a panacea. It only works up to 12 cells, so my sylvan elf rogue, when she tries to shoot at some distant targets with a bow, receives "The target is unlit" disadvantage beyond that distance. Either I have to move her closer, which is not always possible without sacrificing her Darkweaver's height advantage bonus, or somehow organise a light source in the mob's vicinity.

Humans are a real challenge, esp. in the beginning of the game. Without a light source around, they get this "unlit" disadvantage even when attacking in melee.
