I only bought this game because I liked the idea of the Dungeon Maker, just read about it a few days ago. I thought it may be like Neverwinter Nights, even better. I have yet to play around with it because for the past two days I've just played the game, love it.
I've played other games like this, not going to mention them, but I always lose interest around midway point. I did not even finish another game like this that's in alpha due to something...boredom? Not really sure. All I can say is THIS ONE has got me hooked. I think it's the simplicity of it, just easy to play for me. The other games I feel may just have too much going on. What I like about Solasta is it FEELS like a D & D campaign. I don't feel like the world is on my character's shoulders....just a few good companions that met in a bar and are now questing together. Maybe it's the writers for Solasta? I am invested in the world and the stories and it must be due to Solasta hitting on a little of everything positvely.
This is not to say that the game is not complex, it is, but it just feels nice to play. The only issue I had in the beginning were graphics but now that does not even bother me and I think I'm actually enjoying their aesthetics more (could use more options in character creator). The other graphical element would be to make the cities feel more alive i.e. have the flags blow in the wind, more city elements, bit better lighting, etc. Another nice touch would be having birds fly over head and trees slightly moving when breezy...just brainstorming. Rain?
Not sure if this makes sense to the devs or whomever is reading it but wanted to give my thoughts. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the *spoiler* cursed crown that one of my companions is wearing. I have not gotten back to the city to research what the )*+$+&#@ it is and is doing to my party but can't wait to find out.
