3 clerics each with spiritual guardians running,  it's like roomba and the undead are just a little bit of dirt.  so i think i need to start over and have less clerics, way too easy

That's what make games like this so fun. Sometimes it will be to hard, other times it will be to easy. I like easy playthroughs so I went with Pally, Cleric, Cleric, Wizard. If you want a hard playthrough, don't have a spell caster.

Another way to cheese things: Once you get 4th level spells, stack Wall of Fire. They can easily do 20+ damage per tick, though they aren't as userfriendly as Spirit Guardians.

Typos happen. More so on the phone.

What exactly does Spirit Guardians do?  I love the spell and use it but is it just protection or does it also hurt those that enter it?

Spirit Guardians is a small AOE that follows the caster. Anything that enters the effect (including the character walking up to them) or ends their turn in it takes 3d8 radiant (save to negate). You can turtle with it (stand still and watch melee-only enemies immolate themselves getting to you) or go walkabout and smack everything in the battlefield.

One really nice complementary spell is Expeditious Retreat, which turns Dash into a bonus action. Then, you use your bonus action to Dash and your main action to Disengage, so you can walk around the battle smacking everything with 3d8 radiant without being targetted by opportunity attacks.

i wonder if the battle cleric +1 AC stacks?  maybe i'll make 4 battle clerics and stay in a square formation, taking the dodge action, i've seen adamantine plate is there adamantine half-plate?

i was a bit surprised when my characters where on fire twice, but i guess its more balanced that it goes both ways.  luckily it only took one action to put out both fires

For tougher battles, sometimes the AI punishes the blender tactic (spirit guardians and wall of fire). For example, a goblin shaman with lightning will make you think twice about staying behind wall of fire, or the tree-spiders in the lava forest are perfectly content to pelt your party safely from the trees (until you drop PBAOE spells). However, smart monster tactics occur far too little, even with deadly/merciless AI settings, most melee creatures will die stupidly trying to penetrate these spells.

Now you don't want to make wall of fire useless, if every creature has smart-scripting to counter PBAOE.  In comparison, you can still walk around with spirit guardians, so it remains very useful (don't lose mobility).

In short, at higher levels I'd love to see move dispel magic and ranged tactics to drop/avoid PBAOE.

THIS!

While I think they did a good job making casters use counter spell, there should be casters who make interesting use of dispel magic.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Especially in the final encounter there should be one. Maybe even some more mean higher level spells that are not available to the PCs.

While I liked the difficulty overall, I was disappointed that there where no real surprises in the end.
