Just how random is loot? I'm about 90% of the way through the game, and I've yet to find a primed longsword. I've got primed daggers for days, though...
I never took the time to test, but wondered if the loot was determined the moment you zone into the level or rolled when you open the chest?
To answer your question, some items appear "static," like the (+1) Manacalon Leather, which you will find every time in the cave, while other times I've found great loot I couldn't replicate in a different run.
I also have never found a primed longsword or many of the other crafting items needed. My list is completely grayed out except for the dagger. I have all the materials just none of the weapons or armor needed. Kinda makes crafting worthless.
As noted above, some of the loot is hard-coded, so you will always find them in the same places in the game. But a lot is random & appears to be set when you zone into the level. So reloading at a chest won’t change the loot in it, but reloading & re-entering the level will.
