How is performance for y'all?

I'm wondering what performance is like for other people. My GPU is below the stated minimum specs (RX 460) and I'm playing through WINE/Proton, but the performance just doesn't seem to be where it should be based on the graphics style and how similar games perform. I get around 25-40 FPS at lowest settings and 1080p, with interior areas being on the lower end of the range and some of the tutorials even stuttering. https://9apps.ooo/

I haven't encountered a single Performance skill check yet, so I wouldn't know =P

In all seriousness, my performance is generally good and around 60+ fps, but there are places where I get lag despite having a somewhat... overqualified PC (not at home atm, so can't specify the specs). I run Baldur's Gate 3 on Ultra with little problem for comparison. Usually I get lag for Solasta around bodies of water or when there are a lot of visual effects in play at the same time. I also notice more lag the further into the EA I get, so there is probably something with the amount of information on the save, like unlooted items for the Scavengers.

I expect the game is a bit better optimized once we hit release.

Typos happen. More so on the phone.

i had no issues running SOLASTA on my laptop: i7-8750h w/ GTX 1060 under windows, using the same system with ubuntu 20.04 w/ proton its been slightly sluggish at times mostly during character creation?  the linux system did crash when i attempted to run the game at high graphics and on the battery.

i cobbled together a mini-tower/SFF for my friend so they can play the game using an i5-8500 w/ GT 1030.  while the GT 1030 seems to be lower than the recommended graphics card it seems to run the game fine at low graphics setting, though the speed/response is noticeably slower than my laptop system.  another possible issue is that although the graphics card is plugged into a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, that slot is only wired as a x4 [remember its a mini-tower/SFF]

once cryptocurrency gets is ass figured out there will be a flood of cheap used graphics cards on the market, at that point i would like to try splicing in a GTX1050 or GTX1650 into my friends system [and i do mean splicing the power supply is not designed to run a real graphics card]

note: the  i5-8500 w/ GT 1030 is also linux with proton

i should note that i've been tweaking the graphics card on my laptop in an attempt to use CUDA with openMP so that might account for the slight differences between the windows and linux performances.  or it just could be that the proton's overhead is more than the window's overhead but that seems unlikely.  normally things run about 5-10% more efficiently on linux vs windows, for example linpack: 230 gflops linux vs 210 gflops windows.  though i'm hoping for 1/3 tflop if i can off load stuff onto the graphics card.

Hi all,

The performance is pretty bad for me with a RX570 and a i7-4770, which is an old setup but still working correctly with a lot of games. I'm usually getting 35fps with medium settings. But in the second dungeon (can't remember the name) it drops to 12 fps...

On steam forum it seems it affects more AMD graphic card users.

Performance is fine for me. Haven't had any problems yet and this machine & graphics card is 4 years old! Unlike BG3 which it is at the bottom end spec-wise and can only just about play, with very slow loading and the odd lag.

HOnestly,  that's one of the things I like about this game.  Everything loads up failry quickly and plays out well without the frustrating screen-freezes!

Performance is great for me on high settings.  No issues at all so far on my Alienware laptop.

Just tested again, FullHD resolution, low setting with a RX570 i have 35fps in the second dungeon. It's really low, doesn't seem right when recommended setting is a RX590.

I just updated my video drivers with no change.

Ok so it's at the begining of the second cave, there are a lot of lights and it drop to 15 in medium setting. The next "room" without light fps just go back to "normal".

Unfortunately v1.0 is unplayable for me. BIOS shuts down machine  even with low frame rate and low settings.
I have dozens of hours in the previous versions with settings running on Ultra with framerates in the hundreds and at Super-Ultra Wide resolution.
Don't know what the heck happened, or what else to do about it. Was excited to jump back in to the game on official release but will have to wait a while until this issue is solved.

Is anyone else running this with a card lower than the minimum listed in the system requirements?  If so, how is your performance?

@Mindbender look at my notes on the GT1030 above

I didn't really have a performance issue but this game is uneven and takes a whole lot of resources in some areas, like the rooms the party go through after the recovery of the crown bearer (after they bring it back with the sorak's head).

I also had an episode with a random encounter in the dark, when I used light on my wizard and made her carry a torch at the same time to illuminate an enemy, my GPU fans went crazy. Yet it's an RTX 3070, I never had this with any other game before.

So the lighting is very demanding on the hardware.

yep, the final version is running hotter than the EA, hope that can be fixed

No problems running it just having to cover my pc in fans to stop it melting in the launch build :)
