I've got a character with a Dwarven Thrower. The only attack option with it appears to be melee.
It's been identified and attuned, but still can't be thrown.
I'm wondering this as well. It's description also does not have ranged information.
Don't have the item, but perhaps try switching to ranged attack mode (both with and without the ranged slot assigned to a weapon) might work?
So I noticed this item can be attuned to a character. I went ahead and attuned it thinking perhaps that was the issue. As far as I can tell, no change at all.
This would be such a cool item if it worked / were more obvious how to use as a ranged weapon (if at all).

Well, I loaded my game after the latest release. My dwarven thrower is now a Warhammer+2
Not particularly thrilled by that change.
Had this happen also. Not pleased as Thrower is a +3, also had on cleric and on fighter as were both Dwarves.
Sorry to go off topic but the game is not playable to me for getting primed weapons. No matter what I give Surespell and after the 2 Arcaneum quests only short swords unlock. Suggestions?
Neuromancer, you have to get your faction level up with the Arcaneum in order to buy higher level items as well as Primed weapons. Keep playing and find items in the world that you can give to them to increase your standing with them. But there's only special items that you can give them that do this. If you hover your cursor over the item, it'll tell you which factions want that item.

I think you need Brotherhood (50%) with the Arcaneum to get most primed gear. Only the primed full plate requires more than that.
As well as loot, you can also increase ratings by doing side quests for that faction.
