Somewhat old news (at least for me), but yeah I am very excited. Since BG3 has turned out to be a huge disappointment for me, this is now the D&D game I am focusing on.

If it has Solasta's combat rules, Baldur's Gate 3's visuals, and uses the source material from Wizard's of the Coast; it could be the RPG of the decade!

This is great news.  The more D&D CRPGs, the better.

The first link makes it sound like you potentially play a single character.  Would be an interesting take if true.

That's my take as well. So then the big question is will it be first-person, third-person, or both? For me, I very much hope third-person is there at least as an option, because I won't play first-person.

I'm pretty new to D&D, do you think is it a good way to start?

Call me old school but I thought that the entire point of a RPG was to play your own character -- not cosplay someone else's character.

Just thinking outside the square, different take on a play-style, you actually stumble onto them and become part of the DL group, intertwining into their story, but control some of the decisions (dicerolls/outcomes/persuasions towards group/story arc) ie:- dragons of desolation and so on

Depends on the character you would be playing. In general I am completely in agreement with your way of seeing it. But, I loved playing Geralt in TW3. I think I would also love playing certain personally favorite characters from the Forgotten Realms, like Khelben Blackstaff or Erevis Cale.

Yes party-based RPGs are automatically my very strong preference over solo-play RPGs. But I don't rule out solo-play games.

I like the third person view for party-based games and on the whole probably still prefer them when they're well written. But I do love a well-made solo, first-person RPG for that feeling of immersion. Third person action games on the other hand, I am totally spastic with. I think the first Mass Effect was the only one I ever managed to make it through successfully.

I'm honestly not all that wedded to D&D, although it has the comfort of familiarity. But there are many, many interesting tabletop games out there that have never been used for CRPG's.
