Haste Action should be useable before main action

I would like it if during haste you could select the haste action bar first if you want. Alternatively, it would be nice if you used one of the limited options for haste (dash, dodge, disengage, hide, use an object) that it would automatically use up the haste action and leave you with your main action still. Thanks for the great game!

I logged in to make exactly this thread. It's not something that comes up too often, but as things stand it's impossible to use Haste's action to dash and then use your regular Attack action to make multiple attacks. You're forced to waste your action to dash and then make a single attack with Haste's action. Again, it's not the end of the world as I found myself in a situation where this mattered just twice in 200 hours, but it's still something that doesn't really work as it should.

My 5th level Paladin when hasted can use Shove to try to knock the target down and then attack twice (at advantage).  So, this would seem that the Haste action (shove) is before the main action (attack and extra attack).  Maybe shove is treated differently than dash, dodge, disengage or hide?

Nope. You can Shove in place of an attack. If your Paladin is not Hasted, you can still Shove + 1 attack (if you have the Extra Attack feature). So your actions go like this:

Shove (normal attack) + Attack (normal attack) + Attack (haste attack)

There's a similar issue with Cunning Action.   If you use the main Dash or Hide actions, you lose your main action for the turn.  You can press the Cunning Action to open up the "Cunning Dash" and "Cunning Hide" (which are just labelled the same but a slightly different colour).  I've lost count of the number of times I've accidentally pressed "Cunning Action" then "Dash" and discovered later in the turn that I've unconsciously pressed the wrong one and lost my turn.

It would be much better if there were only one Hide and one Dash button, and they did not consume your main action when you have Cunning Action (until you another main action, disabling your bonus action).  Similarly, if you press Attack, then Hide and Dash should simply remain available when you have Cunning Action.  It would be a better interface.  And no need for the Cunning Action panel at all!

I don't think there's any downside to this.  I haven't met any DM that required me to say declare my first Dash in a turn was "cunning" or not.

Sadly there are. Several. Not only as a Thief can you want to use bonus action on using an Item instead after having attempted an Attack, you may also try and cast a bonus action spell as a magic-wielder archetype for example. Plus, imagine multiclass comes later in an official way: that kind of "auto assumption" would severely break things.

I do agree however that interface has margin for improvement although I'm not sure what to suggest.
