Game Version: 1.1.11

I am getting Solastra.exe is not responding error about every 30 seconds to a minute, especially when the game is saved or autosaving and when it is launching a tutorial. Please help because this game is awesome but unplayable like this.

What are your system specs?

Do you have that with any other software? Do you have other games that perform correctly?

To rule out some of the possible external causes:

  • disable the antivirus and try, or alternatively:
    • add the game directory to the antivirus exclusion list (white list)
    • add the game settings (where it also saves the files) to the antivirus exclusion list, it's here: c:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Tactical Adventures\Solasta, or %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Tactical Adventures\Solasta
  • freezing when accessing the disk may also be due to a defect disk, but since it would be your system partition (C:\), you would have the problem with any program in general. Still, you could check your disk (right-click on the C: disk, properties, tools, check)
  • check the integrity of the game (from Steam, GOG, or the platform you're using)
  • scan your system with an up-to-date antivirus

Look I do tech for a living all of those things have been done.

I run a custom built pc with an MSI Gamming Z370 M5 and an I-7 8700K OC to 4.8 ghz with an downclock of 4.5 when handling AVX2 (I believe is what it is called), I have a RTX 2060, I have Malewarebyte running on my PC and ANY directories that would affect this are added to the exclusions list, I'm not an idiot, I know what I am doing, I currently have over 70 games installed from Cyberpunk to AC: Vahalla to Baldur's Gate 3 to  Dvinity: Original Sin 2 to Last Epoch and a crap ton more and none of them have this issue at all. My disk is 100% healthy I know I checked with crystal disk, you know what also I did I moved the install between different hard disks and none of that helped. My system gets scanned twice a day with up-to-date antivirus, Now spare me your b.s. like I don't know what I am doing, My problem happened on a fresh install and yes I verified the files......, Don't want user help for this reason waste of my time suggestions, I want the people who made the games help or I am going to ask for a refund

To be clear here the game does respond if you wait long enough but waiting 3-5 minutes for it each time makes it unplayable, Ill just go play diablo or divinity or baldur's gate or last epoch where I don't have this issue even tho I feel this game may have blown all of them out of the water!

Way to answer someone who's trying to help. How am I supposed to know what level you are, especially since you give zero information on your bug description? And from the look of it, you must be pretty unsuccessful in your job if your own system is so unstable.

If you don't need help from others than devs, why do you post in the forums? And why don't you just say so?

Looks like you're just an asshole then.

While I understand that Memphismage's response was uncool and unwarranted, considering that he asked for help on the forums, your reply was not better (ends with an outright insult).  The best would be to have ignored him utterly after his first response.

He sent an email to TA, and the ideas of non-employees does not interest him.

No need to reply,

Oh dear. I have a similar rig, with the same CPU at least - are you sure you actually need such a brutal overclocking? Because I still run mine at nominal frequencies, and it's fast enough for anything I throw at it.

Anyway, I hope you do monitor CPU temperatures.

I have to disagree, this person obviously needs to understand one doesn't behave like this. Indeed, it's unfortunate that it ends with an insult, I'm not perfect and I don't respond well to such aggression when all I'm trying to do is help (in forums where answers from the dev team are quite rare).

I'm really surprised you quote my message and not his (especially if you claim to be a moderator), you're basically telling everyone else it's OK to answer like that to people trying to help. IMO it's best to take a problem at the root, instead of looking at the later consequences.

Indeed, but he only expressed that after I replied. Please check the first post.

Let's keep it at that, from my part I'll avoid both answering like that and helping others in the future.

Believe me, I was not saying or implying you were wrong.  Note I began by stating "Memphismage's response was uncool and unwarranted, considering that he asked for help on the forums".

My suggestion was "The best would be to have ignored him utterly after his first response".

I think my two phrases clearly stated his response was uncool and he deserved to be ignored.  So, yes, I understood well what you meant, agreed with the sentiment, and said so, but maybe too diplomatically for your taste.

Yes I agree my response was uncool and unwarranted. I apologize for that. I really didn't mean any disrespect. But I absolutely get really frustrated when I buy a new game and have to spend my free time troubleshooting issues on my time off for hours and hours. Which I can guarantee isn't my rig considering my rig has absolutely no other issues doing anything else. I agree that my vague post at the beginning doesn't give much clue into that. What I really wanted was some responses from people that may have had the same issue or the development team. After a bunch of digging around I found the issue and others have had it as well. I can get the problem to stop if I am not connected to the network, you can't merely go in offline mode on steam, you must actually disable the network adapter and no it isn't my network adapter because I have 5 different ones that I have tried 3 internal: One onboard ethernet, one pcie ethernet, one wireless ethernet, 2 external: one ethernet, one wifi. Yes all drivers are up-to-date. Yes I am sure I suck as a tech but I found the problem before anyone else did lol.

After further testing I have figured out the problem. I run a corporate style network at my house for testing purposes. It appears that the issue is caused by the DNS being routed through my domain controller. As soon as I point the DNS straight to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 the issue is resolved or at least a lot lot better. Sometimes it still hangs a tiny bit but nowhere near what it did before and I quit getting the Solasta.exe is not responding. Thing is no other game out of 70ish games has this issue or cares what my DNS is set to. But for now I will just change my DNS when I want to play....better than nothing, and thanks for the hate (not saying I didn't deserve it), but it really helped me track down the issue!! Lit a fire under me lol
