Early Impressions

Little miffed, that it takes around 90 minutes to complete character creation and the intro/tutorial. STEAM gives a 2 hr window to refund or not and burning 75% of that time on the tutorial, is REALLY unfair to the tentative player.

The game SHOULD have read in player-created characters from the demo, saving time for the player. (Should be easy enough to ask for the demo path if present, then read the save files to import player-generated characters.)

The artwork is good, cept the character faces are still ...well, less than desireable.

U/I is exactly as per the demo, so no rude surprises there. (Which is a good thing)

Gameplay? Beyond the demo I can't really address it yet. Only 30 minutes left omy 2 hours decisiotime, and I just completed leveling everyone to 2nd level at the inn. Have yet to truly START to play the game.

I agree that the character faces could still use some work, but I hope that you'll stick around and that you decide to keep playing Solasta ^_^

Well, can't say I'm impressed with the RNG. Stuck on the second quest (escape the wolves) because the big wolf rolls a 20 every time.  Can't get away from him killing me.

I don't think the wolf is RNG, its hitting 20 to make a point about disengaging, but you have to disengage, then click the rock at the top to make it fall on the wolf. If you just try to run it'll catch you and kill you every single time, but its not well explained in game.

Definitely not.  I'll try that next time. Thanks.

The only less than positive thing I've noticed so far is humans are pretty gimped in this game.

They just get a +1 to each attribute which isn't that useful, while the other player races get more focused attribute boosts PLUS a bunch of special bonuses from their race + subrace.
Humans could use a little extra boost to bring them up to the level of everyone else.

Apart from that have enjoyed trying out the game so far, great seeing the created characters banter away with each other.

I'm disheartened that the Dual Wielder feat is missing, thus one of my characters cannot dual wield rapiers, as I had hoped.

I did notice a feat called "Should Not Be Displayed" or something like that, which I assume to be a bug or placeholder.

Otherwise, character creation, and leveling, is very nice.

Looking forward to updates.

A few hours in, and I got to the end of the tutorial. I'm for now quite impressed with how the game looks (except the characters' faces).

I like the banter

The UI still needs IMO a bit of revamping to make it look like more D&D (as long as you keep it that simple to use).

However I need to rebind my keys. I still cannot find the key to the character panel and having a french keyboard on the english version, it is not optimal.

Looking forward to play again tomorrow !

OK...few hours into the game now. Yeah, I'm keeping this one. Game feels like DnD.

I'm so glad I'm finally able to play the game ! I passed the tutorial in about on houre, but when i arrived to the castle of the first mission (the one with the lisards-men), I encountered HUUUUGE loading issues ! I can't rest ( same for  short and long rest) neither i can load my quicksaves ingame (wich is quite funny when you'r fighting big angry lizards with no more magic... ). When y try to rest, I stay stuck on the loading screen and nothing happen. Anyone with the same problem ?

I am impressed with the game so far, the character models might not be as polished as BG3 but the game is far more engaging so far, and it feels more like a D&D game than BG3.  Also, this is the First Tutorial that i have ever thought i would love to do it again.  It felt like the tutorial was different depending on the character selection, it likely is always the same, but i still want to try it with a totally different selection  of characters.

Hello,

I also passed the tutorial now and yea, it´s really made very good and it all feels like good old (A)D&D.

But I miss the option to scroll when reaching the edge with the mouse. Why is it not implemented?

Also, as already stated, the customization of the character look is really lacking of different faces, haircuts, beards, etc....hope there will come more later.

And yes, humans are a bit behind of the other races regarding some special abilities and bonus attributes.....why that? The winter dwarf seems a bit overpowered here....

Played an hour past the tutorial and loving it so far.. torn between wanting to play more and saving the experience for the full release. I do think that it's a little on the easy side so far. I made a 3 mage, 1 rogue party to really see how limited I would be with limited resting opportunities but so far it's not a challenge.

Would very much like a difficulty option for the campaign. (if there is one I'm blind I guess).

Love the game, but ugh the faces! Please tell me that there are plans for more faces, including attractive ones (both genders). Please don't pull a "Battletech" on us!

That's how humans are in 5E Rules. That +1 to all stats modifier is very powerful, and makes them great at everything, where the non-human races, until the Tasha rules come out next month, and the non-humans can select where they want their bonus to attributes.

So far I love it!

The story starts in a tavern! Yes, so simple and so much better than the over-the-top “Mindflayers spaceship being intercepted by dragons“ of BG3.

I like the atmosphere, I like how the characters act in dialogues, I like it that the cut scenes are short and to the point - these are all the things that BG3 got wrong.

While this game is not as shiny as BG3 I find that it gives BG3 a good competition. Well done devs!

Some more character faces would be appreciated, as a few posters have already commented.
