Dying character alive in cutscene

In the tower during the first encounter with Razan my mage was dying after one of Razan's attacks. However right after the attack, the cutscene was triggered. During the cutscene my mage was up and about conversing happily with the dragon as if nothing could bother him and then after the cutscene he was unconscious again.
