My Vel DM guide has been updated with more tips including: line of sight, enemy spawn, activators, planning encounters, how to manage save games for play testing. I’ve also linked to Vincto and Silverquick’s excellent getting started guide on Fandom.

I'm having a problem with auto-spawn. I want to set up a triggered fight where the monsters appear once you do something, but they keep showing up before I'm ready for them. I know this is possible because Silverquick always makes me poop my pants by surrounding me with monsters.

Hey SimulationCommander
In order to not have your monsters ready before you want it you have to "uncheck" the "automatic apparition" on the left menu of the monster itself.
Then use an activation trigger to "activate" the monster when you need it (link the monster to the trigger.)
+ think to orientate the monster in the right way.
+ I strongly suggest to add a monster group to every encouters.
Finally i suggest you to make this "trigger for apparition" for every battle. This could avoid many mistakes but take care about every possible ways to activate them.

Hmmm....that seems like exactly what I have done. I moved past it for now and focused on the end, but I'll be coming back to this afterward and will try it out.

Hmmm....that seems like exactly what I have done. I moved past it for now and focused on the end, but I'll be coming back to this afterward and will try it out.

Remember that you can open up someone else's mod in your DM and see how they accomplished a particular event or handled a combination of activators.

If you are mostly a player you probably do not want to do this, in order to preserve the magic, but as a creator it is a fantastic way to absorb some of the experience that is poured into those top quality modules.

I think I was using 'entry activator' instead of the expandable one.

Edit: Confirmed. It works!

I've posted a few suggestions on your steam guide thread. I think it gets more eyes on it than this forum (please correct me if I'm wrong) so it seemed to be the best central point to develop and popularize this resource.

Good job on adding it to the wiki too.
