DICE ROLLS

OK, I,m back to my original contention.

This stupid game is rigged against the players.

I just did a battle where my team could NOT hit, and the enemy could not miss.

It was pathetic.

You know, this could have been a good game.

But I just got tired of trying to outlast all the million dice rolls to make a hit.

That's just boring.

This thing just makes me cuss.

It hits spells where you don't roll a hit maybe 10 times, and all the enemies roll 20

I like the game, and am still playing it, but how they set up the rolls isn't right.

I have seen some really wierd stuff.

Like 3 1s in a row.

Like5 or 6 rolls in a row that are all 2 or 3 or 4.

But I do notice that when the enemy spellcasters roll, they roll 5s and 6s regularly.

It's a shame.

This is a good game, but these dice rolls are ridiculous.

When you have a 2nd lvl Paladin go down to goblins because he can't hit and they can't miss and to close do max damage on every hit.

That is fucked up.

HERE'S ANOTHER EXAMPLE

7th l Wizard throws Ltn Bolt...does 17 damage?

And the Wandering Zealots constantly roll all 5s and 6s.

Plus I did a little side dungeon, where a bunch of goblins were takking out party members with one hit.

Took out the whole party.

Two Paladins, a Ranger & a Wizard.

I've been watching it. You get sometimes 6 to 8 misses in a row.

I saw 3 20s in a row from the enemy.

You're not wrong Velanor

My testing shows similar things happening, and its been ruining the game for more people than you. The "Karmic" dice roll system is broken. its punishing the good players and rewarding the bad ones. Which is the opposite of the way things should be.

It becomes blatantly obvious when you set the stage so low that the only thing that will hit is a 20 for the bad guys and the only thing that will miss is a 1 for the party. You can literally watch the thing blatantly cheat the dice rolls. And I'm pretty sure at this point its based on specific "hooks" set in the algorythm. Like, how much damage the party is doing vs how much damage the monsters are doing, and its based on quotas.

Its so blatantly obvious it looks fake as hell and literally can pull people right out of their immersion in the game.

EDIT: it literally forces save scumming. If you want to beat it, all you have to do is reload from the save point as soon as you see it, as the game saves before every combat. Also its not a bad idea to restart the client as that usually clears out whatever cache is being stored on the pre-rolls.

Thanks for that.

There is that part of me whispering "you're imagining it", but when I see every enemy sorcerer roll 30+ damage on Ltn Bolt, and I can never manage above 16, it makes you want to pull your hair out.

The only saving grace here is my two Paladins who Divine Smite the hell out of all comers.

Because the basic way they set the game up is better than anything else around, I stick with it and just cuss a lot.

The “karmic” dice system is one you have to opt-in to under difficulty settings, no? I just finished my 1st playthrough and can’t recall any crazy streaks like that, but I was running custom difficulty. I think the things I had turned off were karmic dice, saved dice seeds, and encumbrance movement penalties (I”ll probably not turn those off next run as it wrecks the Scavenger system).

Oh, I've had it with this thing.

I tried an experiment, using low level guys to see about the dice rolls.

Had one of those encounters , the lone fanatic.

So I had my guys just shoot arrows, no Paladin swords, just bows, to see how bad the dice really roll.

He killed my entire party. That's how bad the party rolls. you cannot hit. It's about 20% hit ratio.

Tell Me This thing isn;t rigged!!!!!!

An encounter, everybody is asleep except one, orc & wolves attack ad take 2 Paladins TO 6 HP, and eventually kill them!!!!!!!!

I mean these things don't miss!!!!!

And the player cannot hit.....about one in four or five!

You know, I'm going to quit this game over these stupid dice rolls.

I get 3 1s in a row? Then a 3?

It is on average 6 misses in a row, every time.

WHATTHEFFFFFFFF!!!!!

You Assholes!

What is this, having us attacked while asleep

And having them kill your people while down??????????

What juvenile, pimple-faced, addle-brained programmer dreamed that shit up??????

These fucking "dice" are going to make me quit this game!

I did an experiment.

Got four Paladins, going against the "gloryseeker".

They fought one at a time, not engaging him, letting him fight one man at a time.

Now this is how weighted against the player the dice are....he killed 3 of the Paladins before he went down.

It was surreal to watch.....the player rolls miss after miss, 7,8 at a time, and the enemy hits 50% of the time.

It's damned disgusting.

My recent experience corroborates the loaded dice conspiracy.  I get that the developers say that it isn't.  I even saw a post somewhere that claimed "why would they take effort to even do that" or something to that effect.  But they do have the "karmic dice" option, which leads me to believe they might randomly stack the deck against the party in dice rolls

I'm fairly early in the game.  Just hit 4th level.  Random encounter with Bandits.

Try #1 went 9 rounds and my party had 3 attack rolls that were over 10.  I didn't keep track of the enemy attack rolls, but they did well because it ended in a party wipe.

Try #2, I kept better track of the attack rolls on both sides.  My party had one attack roll over 10 (Rogue rolled a 19 on a sneak attack).  The bandits only had one attack roll under 15.  Try #2 only lasted 5 rounds before total party wipe.  My wizard only had so many Magic Missile spells which were the only thing that could hit anything.

So, yeah.  While entirely possible within the grand scope of "RNG", it is quite improbable to have one side roll so badly over two different instances of the same battle, while the other side consistently rolls high.

UPDATE: Try #3 was more even.  Roughly 50% party rolls > 10 and same for the bandits.  Maybe the game realized I had suffered enough punishment and decided to play fair. Ha!
