These difficulty options are awesome. Thank you!!

I believe customizability will be the next big evolution in RPG gaming, and you guys are clearly on the cutting edge.

Hi. The Variant Encumbrance rule is actually a "rule as written (RAW)" in the Player's Handbook, but the DM decides which to use.

ahh yes, for some reason i thought the variant rule just applied to armor, but i makes more sense if it is for all of the gear

Just FYI, by RAW being Restrained has no impact on the ability to perform Somatic components for spells.  Just as it doesn't stop you from attacking (albeit imposing Disadvantage), it doesn't stop you from casting spells.  Not sure if this is a variant rule you like, a tool tip error, or something else.

Can we have difficulty setting for character creation? How about an option of limiting free edit?
Also, any plans to include Ironman mode option?

since this is personal game, i think folks can be honest with themselves i don't see a need to put self-imposed external locks on character creation when we can just use self-imposed internal locks.  i like the open system, because it allows me to use TASHA's optional stat rules and still play the game RAW.  if they tie the RAW switch for the game rules into the character creator then it will mess up things like TASHA's stuff

Well, I do not agree options are not needed just because it is a single-player "personal" game. TA already declared their plans to introduce difficulty options to this game. I think the difficulty option for character stat & ironman mode should be regarded in the same line. I'm talking about selectable on/off options just like all these difficulty options in the original post. You can turn it off if you want to try other options.

Plus, "self-control" cannot offer the same amount of pressure to the player when compared to the game with such options (like the Ironman mode option). Because everyone can cheat. Some sort of forced environment is inevitable for the sense of "pressure" and "challenge" to players. If players know that they have an "insurance" of going back to prior save points, then they will never feel the same amount of pressure and toughness from the product. In other words, the weight & pressure to players with and without Ironman mode is enormously different. Because you can freely go back to the point of the beginning of the mission, or 2~3 missions before something bad happen.

Yeah, some people really try the game without save-scumming for a limited amount of time, but eventually all people I know loaded to the prior point if some key members are killed. I'm talking about the XCOM2 example. And I don't trust anyone who claims "I cleared XCOM2 LW Legendary without save-scumming. I just forget to set Ironman mode, but trust me, I cleared this without save & load".

Some told me Solasta doesn't need to be XCOM2 LW, but why not? This is about challenge and pressure, and it is just another way to enjoy the game. Preventing savescumming at the beginning of the campaign, by ironman mode which cannot be turned off during the game, will enrich the experience of enjoying Solasta.

I have a rather specific question, which I could test in-game, but I am too lazy at the moment.

Identify spell : in the tabletop rules, the material component (Pearl of 100 GP) is not consumed. So as you say, you only need a Pearl in your Inventory. Is this how it is implemented in Solasta ? (when Spell Components Full Mode is used) I was under the impression, probably false impression, that it would cost 100 GP per cast, which would be insane.

( Note to readers : some spells do have a material cost every time, like Revivify which cost 300 GP every time it is used.)

If you haven't received an answer, yet, the pearl does NOT get consumed.
