Cloak of Arachnida - doesn't work during combat

I equipped my Rogue Darkweaver with a Cloak of Arachnida so she could wall-walk to a higher vantage point to get the Predator bonus during combat.  However, once combat starts, movement up walls is disabled.  It reverts to normal ground movement and climbing.
