Can't save in dark keep

in the maze phase of the keep following the aksha fight, after I attempt to pick up the loot that spawns a ghost, I can no longer save, even after I beat the ghost. Beyond that, I couldn't pick up the loot he was guarding, and every object interaction following it took 15-20 seconds to execute. It remained that way following more fights, until I gave up when I saw that I was not going to be able to save my progress regardless.
