So I loaded up my EA game to find that all of my faces have changed very, very, very, very much for the worse. I was horrified, but also I rolled around my other characters I made in EA, and then jumped into character creation to find that the old faces have been removed/replaced. Every female character I made in EA has the ONE same new face (which is extremely ugly and derpy) - They did have different faces in EA, which I can still see on their little headshot things.
I do get that these new faces kinda look like they might have improved graphics, but like what gives on this drastic style change? Why not add more instead of remove/replace? Also, there's no way to edit characters after creation, which would at least make my EA characters usable in a new game.
As is, I'm finding the faces of my EA completed party are so bad that I need to restart with launch - and that is not what I expected when it was advised to make a new game for a better launch experience!
The new faces are really bad. It's nearly impossible to make a reasonably attractive character. I tried male, female, human, halfling, elf, and dwarf, and the only one that looks decent after a few hours of trying, is my dwarf, and that's only because he's supposed to look rough and craggy.
The complexions are horrible. It looks like pretty much every character I've made has had a severe case of chicken pox and didn't recover well.
This really should be addressed, and there should be some way to edit characters after the fact if and when it does get improved, so people can play and not be stuck with the unhealthy peasants we seem to have thrust into the role of heroes.
I was so excited to see multiple face selections. Then click after depressing click as each one was ugly. Still haven't started playing the game I'm so bummed.
I don't like how the voice selection is controlled by the personality either. I'm a big fan of the thief/spy voice 2, but have decided to go ranger instead, and now none of my girls have a cute voice or good looks. Ugh.
Maybe that's because I've played before, but I have no issue with the faces as they are. They're not the same level as AAA games but the game's purpose is not showcasing highly realistic 3D models.
The problem is that those models are usually meant to be seen from farther away in the top-down view, but for the dialogues it has been decided to have cutscenes with close-ups on the characters, which have its advantages and disadvantages.
You won't even notice those little shortcomings after a little while :-)
for now I’m scared to play with the game because I don’t know how likely they are to change faces again. If I start now and halfway through the head of each of my characters change I would burst into tears.
Anyway, I think the new faces a bit more detailed, but the textures and the beards are still weird. Plus I don’t understand why the old faces didn’t stay in the game, it makes no sense.
Low graphical setting/capability is no excuse for ugly PC faces and hair/beards that look like wigs that are falling off. The studio needs to find a capable graphic artist to fix this. Lots of games based on the Unity engine have excellent PC faces.

The problem isn't that the graphics and design can't compare to something like Baldur's Gate 3, but rather that the faces we have now are uglier than the ones we had in Early Access, which some NPCs still use.
That's not to say that all the new faces are bad. I like the "caucasian human male face 1" reasonably well, for example, but most of them look worse than what we had before release.
Typos happen. More so on the phone.

Overall, the new faces are overall substandard to very bad.

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about the faces and still cross my fingers that it's a bug and not intended. The skin color is also wrong. My characters now look like they spent too much time in the sun. When they released the full game to early access, the faces were still the good ones. But the first patch after that broke them. I also had made a thread that was moved to the EA section:

Everyone kind of looks fleshy and out of shape (Rubenesque was inspiration?). Also, a bit wrinkled... I've never seen zig-zag eyebrows before, but this is Solasta :)
Lastly, is it me, or everyone has bad posture, like hunching over? The armor is really heavy?
And there's no boobs. Instead of giving us the option to make the characters fat, how about it makes the guys stronger and the women more shapely?
Maybe on an expansion we will see some slider/modeling love. Still loving the game.
The Dwarf beards have some serious clipping issues. The left side of my characters beard is in his face.
It looked like someone moved the age slider and all my characters aged 30 years. The early access faces were fine. It would be nice if there was a way to set them back.
Huge fan of the game but EA faces were better, still not great. The sad thing is they will lose so many players because of it, meaning they won't ever play it due to the faces, so bad and I really don't like giving bad feedback, but there it is.
I absolutely agree with this thread but feel it is misplaced - this is not a real bug, the thread should maybe be under Feedback and Suggestions or General Discussion.
