Bug at the very beginning of the game (easy fix?)

I just started this game an encountered a game-stopping bug at the VERY start, which could easily be fixed as it leaves an impression of frustration on a first timer. 

When in the first area (Escape the Bandits' Prison) if you jump over to the area where you push the rocks down onto the bandits *instead* of pushing the pillar down first to cross the gap, then you get stuck down where the dead bandits and chest are and can't proceed. It won't let you climb back out, and the door will not open. It says "Door cannot be opened" and the quest log still says "push the unstable wall on top of the bandits" even though I did this already. So the quest should be fixed to progress properly if you *don't* push the column down over the gap.
