Attunement and identify during long-rest

If the chars have bloody time to get into heated discussions and craft items during long rests and travel then why not be able to attune items and identify unidentified items during rests and travel.


Bow before me! Or d'ont. I'm not very picky about these sort of things.

Automatic Detect Magic and Identify would be good QoL improvements for during travel, as well as in the case where you need to wait to take your next long rest.

Even just a short rest would be sufficient to do so.

To get back on topic, +1 for the attunement during long rests, it's probably just an oversight.

If the chars have bloody time to get into heated discussions and craft items during long rests and travel then why not be able to attune items and identify unidentified items during rests and travel.

The "heated discussions" are occurring during the travel when they prepare a long rest (fictional narrative in the adventure log), not long rests themselves.

I would like an option for mass-identifying as well, including an option to do so on the road. Luckily identifying was made a lot more convenient with the latest update, but it is still too clunky and slow.

it would be nice if the shadow rogue could do identify during travel long rests, given they can not do it ritually.  i'm guessing there will be a travel overall anyways that will give us a finer control of what happens on travel long rests so my request might be mute point.

I'd like that too. It would make it so Shadowcasters get a reason to pick Identify.

Even just a short rest would be sufficient to do so.

That's from the DMG not SRD.  Sure it would be nice, but it's just as easy to ritual cast identify any time you need it.

Maybe you could queue up multiple items for ritual identification during long/short rest or travel, kind of like crafting?
