Arun Cleric and elemental resistance

1 year ago (edited)

I have not gone past level 6.   I am going to do a startover and like to try an Arun Cleric.  These have an elemental resistance (1/2 at start, at level 6 its %100 apparently) called Scholar of Elements.   Q:   what elemental damage do you see most in the last half of the game?   Is there a particular boss battle that would make having this feature very useful?

Thanks

I got randomly bushwacked by a red dragon, so fire resistance is pretty good.

In Solasta, the best resistance is Fire without a doubt. The immunity to the element isn't permanent, but a Reaction.

Typos happen. More so on the phone.

ROFLMAO yes those HUGE Red Dragons like to hide in the bushes and ambush travelers.

Let me know how that goes for you, seems like the elemental Clerics are weak sauce compared to Battle and life.

Ive played from 1 to level 6 already on cataclysm, since yesterdays post.   Im liking it.   The thing I like about it is they get very useful wizard spells, such as levitate, misty step, etc. but still have the basic cleric stuff.   Its kinda like a cleric/wizard hybrid, but much better health espc with dwarf.  If you already have a wizard, I prefer a Life, Battle or Oblivion cleric.

I tried one, element lightning.

Sorry boys, you cannot beat a good old battle cleric.

I went about 5 lvls with her, and scrapped the whole thing.

Definitely fire. Made it through the end of the game finally, and fire seems to be about 95%+ of what you might want to resist. (Other than some occasional shaman who can melt you with lightning, but that's few and far between by comparison.)

And I'm now desperately hoping to run into a random dragon encounter out there on the road somewhere...

Lightning is about the worst possible choice. Not only is shocking grasp a poor offensive cantrip, lightning is the least used by enemies and the most resisted (the last is true for tabletop D&D too).

Fire is best but there are some creatures with frost vulnerability so that doesn't suck like lightning.
