1. I crafted the Scale Mail armor of Frost Walking and got normal +1 Scale Mail and its color on character was red even though its icon is the black with glowing lines. Crafted the Scale Mail armor of Robustness and it was also just +1 but was not red like its icon, it looked the aforementioned armor's icon.
2. Dwarven Plate does not show up on the character, he's just wearing pants and a t-shirt as if nothing was equipped.
3. Plate Armors helmet has the characters hair clipping through it, in the game world, not in the portraits. This was on a half-elf, not sure if it does it on other races.
And a QoL suggestion: Either don't let us use books we already know the recipe for or put some sort of indicator on the book to tell us we already know its recipe.
+1 for the Dwarven Plate - it's on my crownbearer paladin, which might or might not make a difference.
