Basically, the area spells such as sleep and blind should really specify better if they target all characters in the area or not. In both cases, the description of the spell is that they affect "enemies" in the area, while in practice, they target "everyone" in the area, wheather they are friends or foes. I don't know if in D&D 5 all area spells affect everyone without exceptions but, as someone which doesn't have knowledge of the manual (I came from another videogames such as PoE, where this difference in area spells exists, or PnP like Pathfinder where there are kind of exceptions like Controlled Fireball), I would appreciate if they clearly indicate so.
