I got into the laboratory and searched it, but after that nothing. I can't find anything else to interact with. Is there some hidden hotspot I need to proceed to the end of the current build?

When I went back to the elevator I got a message along the lines of “you’ve reached the end of the story so far”.

I used misty step. make sure your wizard has a thieves tools  in inventory.

So rouge shadow step should work.

You can Misty Step again to do the boss fight, but I found myself trapped after completing it (since only 1 of my party knows Misty Step).
